Therapeutic movement and education can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, help ease your pain by becoming aware of and releasing harmful patterns, help you improve your balance and posture, and reconnect you with your body after injury. We are fortunate to have a highly-trained & certified movement specialist, Kelli Peacock, who offers both individual sessions and public group classes.
Hanna Somatic Education (HSE) is a gentle, safe system of slow movements to aid the body in stressful times, chronic pain or experiencing an injury. HSE is a motor-sensory training that works with your neuromuscular system to reset tension levels and brings more ease of movement. It teaches you how to move "from the inside out" recovering your sense of balance from within. Somatics especially works with improving posture and walking. For sports or yoga enthusiasts, it enhances performance and protects from injury. HSE is helpful for many common ailments such as low back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder and arthritis.
Somatic Yoga teaches the student how to bring their body into more awareness with slow and gentle movements. When a group of chronically held muscles are contracted, it is our nervous system that is holding it. To gain more flexibility and voluntary control within the muscle groups, we focus on the contraction and utilization of the muscles. We also use visualization and breath to enhance experiencing our bodies from within.
