Flow-Style Classes

All Levels Flow & Flow+

The term vinyasa means "to place with intention." In  vinyasa flow classes, we aim to mindfully move in concert with the breath and to engage in sequences that gradually open, strengthen, and stabilize the body. Our Vinyasa Flow classes emphasizes fundamentals of alignment and mindful exploration of our limits. Come expecting to engage basic pranayama (breath) practice in addition to well-rounded, vigorous  sequences that include sun salutations, standing poses, balancing poses, backbends, twists, and  forward folds.  All levels welcome!  Familiarity with basic yoga postures is highly recommended, but no experience with vinyasa yoga is necessary.  Appropriate whether you are a beginner looking for a physically engaging class or an advanced practitioner looking to deepen your practice.

Our Saturday 90-minute 11:00  AM Flow + is a class designed for people who are free from injury and are familiar with vinyasa flow-styles of practice.
More challenging postures are offered and woven into the fabric of our flow with time devoted to cultivating steadiness and core strength. This class is set to Funk music, is as fun as it is challenging, and ends with a 10-minute savasana (final resting pose).

Kundalini Flow

Kundalini Flow will begin with a Vinyasa flow sequence to strengthen and stretch the body. The flow sequence is followed by a Kundalini Yoga Kriya and a meditation to strengthen the nervous system and the glandular system in order to assist the rising of our Kundalini energy to discover a deeper awareness within ourselves. Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is designed to connect the finite with infinity and the experience can be felt in just one class, come explore the infinite universe that lives inside you! This class is designed for all levels of Yogis.

Wisdom Flow

This class  blends the feminine flow of spinal waves and graceful transitions with the masculine wisdom of optimal joint alignment and core strength. Attention to alignment sets students up for pain-free living and injury- free yoga. The awareness within the movement honors the science of how the body works while allowing the wild freedom spirit moving through it.

Yoga for Everybody

A very down-to-earth yoga class that helps you find and strengthen the many layers of the core and realize your flexibility. Highly instructive and perfect for beginners, options will be offered for different levels so that everyone is practicing in their own best way. Questions as we work through the practice are encouraged.

Gentle & Special Focus

Gentle Yoga

Yin Yoga

A welcoming class that helps students gently increase their flexibility, strength, and balance. The pace of the class is deliberate with the opportunity to give students focused attention and support. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters, chairs and straps are available to allow your body to express each posture comfortably. This class is good for people who are brand new to yoga and those who would like more of a stretch than a sweat.

Let it Go: Restorative + Flow

A delicious & slow - paced  flow practice followed by a yummy series of restorative (supported) postures, designed to give both body & mind a chance to put it all down & hit the reset button.  The first part of class helps build strength, open the shoulders, and combat the ills of sitting and driving. The restorative portion of class may include comfort assists to release tension from the back and shoulders. This class is appropriate for all levels.
Be ready to relax in this class! A yin practice holds the poses longer to stretch the tendons and ligaments, not just the muscles. Great for anyone who wants to increase flexibility and would enjoy a gentle yoga practice with lots of props.  Appropriate for beginners and anyone interested in a slower practice.

Somatic Yoga

Somatic Yoga teaches the student how to bring their body into more awareness with slow and gentle movements. When a group of chronically held muscles are contracted, it is our nervous system that is holding it. To gain more flexibility and voluntary control within the muscle groups, we focus on the contraction and utilization of the muscles.  We also use visualization and breath to enhance experiencing our bodies from within.

Silent Meditation

The Awakening Heart-Minds sitting meditation group meets once a week on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 for one hour. The meditation consists of a silent seated (cushions and chairs are provided) session that is 40 minutes long, followed by a 20 minute discussion and check-in period. The group is led by Jeffrey Compton, a Soto Zen Buddhist priest and meditation teacher.  This group is by donation & open to people of all spiritual traditions & faiths.
